Hochschule Hannover – Faculty III Media, Information and Design

Internationally oriented and regionally anchored, the university of applied sciences and arts offers an extraordinarily broad range of disciplines. About 500 teachers teach more than 10,000 students in 67 degree programs. In addition to technical, economical and social sciences, Hanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HsH) also offers a variety of media and creative study programs with a high internationally recognized quality of education.

The Hochschule Hannover has been training librarians for work in academic libraries for 40 years. The library training is integrated in the bachelor program Information Management. Currently, HsH takes about 75 full time and 25 part-time students in the Information Management programs each year. In the full time study program, students choose two of the six areas of expertise: Library, Knowledge Services, Information Didactics, Media Knowledge, Data Science and Web Information Management. Students who have enrolled in the expertise area Library and complete a 6-month internship in a scientific library will be awarded a formal qualification to work in scientific livbraries. The part-time study program offers the area of expertise Library and a selection of subjects from the other areas.

The courses in the two study programs are taught by 12 professors and teachers. Through student projects, third-party funded projects and through courses taught by external experts, we ensure the link to current developments in the library sector.
